You can tell that underneath his pathological laughter, he is actually crying. The thought of Jason begging the Joker for his life and even offering to be his Robin is heartbreaking. Him wanting to keep that a secret is probably a huge part of why he wants to kill him so bad.

All about this scene is simply amazing, I love the glimpses in the music to Call me Joker (which is used in the scene where he paints the smile with his blood) like telling you Joker started to born here, never realized until now! I am so freaking amazed by this film. So here's my thing. There are two scenarios that need to be cleared up for this to be in continuity and im hoping they do: 1. In darkseid war batman learned of there being three jokers and didn't tell anyone. 2. In batman eternal it shows joker has been alive for hundreds of years due to the elysium or Lazarus pit he had.
